I began the planning of the Camera Registry. The Camera registry is a voluntary program that provides residents and businesses to register that they have cameras that in case of emergencies, crimes and lost individuals. The community can assist law enforcement by providing video footage in an effected area in these instances. I also assisted in Berkeley adopting the Special Needs Registry Program. The Special Needs Registry is another voluntary program utilized by many county and municipal authorities to help Physical, Cognitive and Developmentally disabled individuals register their vehicle, home and provide Identification cards alerting law enforcement to their specific needs due to their disability
I was active in the PBA and SOA and assisted in contract negotiations and internal complaints and discipline. Was heavily involved in training, instructing and throughout my career. I Served as an instructor in Crisis Intervention Training for the Ocean County, New Jersey Prosecutors office. Self-defense and handcuffing instructor at the Ocean County Police Academy. I was also certified instructor in baton, edged and Oleoresin Aerosol capsicum weapons.
I taught numerous in-service training classes including tactical talking and dealing with emotional disturbed, cognitive and developmentally disabled individuals to officers to ensure proper, empathic and lawful interactions with the town’s special needs community.
As a Sgt I supervised the busiest shift of the department. Supervising 7 patrolman while also acting as watch commander and responding to calls for service in a backup officer capacity and even initial responding officer when manpower was not sufficient to handle the call volume of emergencies. I directed and performed the arrest of criminal offenders. First aid calls, haz-mat incidents, death notifications, aggravated assaults, homicides, sex crimes, traffic violations and crashes. I ensured of proper execution of drafting serving and executing warrants. Proper follow-up in submitting reports and interagency notification and cooperation with other local state and federal agencies.
