Work History

PASTOR

United Methodist Church and Global Methodist Church
01.2006 - Current
  • Generally, as a head pastor I am responsible for day-to-day operations of the church facilities and all activities that occur on the property. Advisor to the financial and administrative boards to establish bold goals and further develop those goals into realization. Depending on the congregation I served, there have been staff members that I would oversee and provide advice to the Pastor-Staff Parrish Committee for hiring, raises, or dismal recommendations.

INTERIM HEAD PASTOR

Cayce and Crutchfield Global Methodist Churches
06.2023 - Current
  • I was asked to take over my wife’s family church in Cayce, KY where they were in the process of separating from their previous denomination. We spent the first six months dealing with any separation issues or left over feelings that needed to be resolved. In exploring these we uncovered many issues in the congregation that went back over a decade where the previous pastor did not address issues. Counseling took place with several families to bring resolution. While maintaining ongoing classes on the options that lie before them. While inviting outside individuals to speak on these options I also developed Bible based studies on different books in Scripture. We developed further the missional heart of the church and even added a new mission based on food necessity based on income in our county. Since June of 2023 our giving and attendance has increased. Attendance is up 35% and our giving is up by 25%. I have lead church in developing a reputation as a centralized location for different agencies, community groups, and boards to meet.

HEAD PASTOR

Grace Church of La Center
07.2019 - 01.2023
  • I was appointed to Grace Church after a rather nasty separation with a previous pastor. This was a congregation that needed some attention to the details, and not just on what and how sermons were preached. In our first six months we grew in attendance by over 40% and was able to make budget for the first time in ten years. I developed multiple studies based on Scripture as well as live events. While there we worked on developing the property into a Civic Center to be utilized by many city, county, and regional government agencies.

HEAD PASTOR

Mt. Zion and Rush Creek United Methodist Churches
07.2016 - 07.2019
  • Spiritual growth, I learned, sometimes comes in the worst times of ministry. Although Mt. Zion experienced tremendous growth while I had the privilege to serve these congregations Rush Creek found itself in a downward spiral that had started nearly a decade earlier. We spent the last year of my ministry developing a legacy for them to leave an impact on the Mississippi River District that would outlast them. We created annuities, and scholarships for those in the district that carry on the name of the church even after the church ceased to exist. We worked together to find healing in the closing of their 181 year old church and a safe landing spot for those who seeking new worship expressions.

HEAD PASTOR

Trimble and Obion First United Methodist Churches
07.2008 - 07.2016
  • For the majority of my service, I found myself in small rural communities serving churches that people generally used as steppingstones to larger congregations. These churches were full of potential, and we focused on those strengths in my different tenures. Developing and writing biblical and topical studies to work on discipling and growing their kingdom effectiveness as well as their witness potentials. We worked on their pain and their loss and with the exception of one congregation we experienced growth anywhere from 25% to 150% in congregational attendance and budget growth. We started new ministries and worked to bridge the gaps between denominations to serve their communities as a far more efficient Body of Christ. I have served as Pastor, Counselor, Mentor, Teacher, and Preacher in more ways than seminary prepares anyone. In one congregation I learned how to discontinue a church’s presence in the community after 181 years of service while providing a long-lasting legacy to impact generations to come. Not all victories come in numbers, some are purely Kingdom victories.
