  • Copy editor and page designer for mid-sized daily newspaper, where I was responsible for editing content for correct grammar and fact-checking staff reporters' stories using Associated Press style, choosing photos, writing headlines and designing pages using Adobe InDesign for our on-line and print issues.
  • Responsible for a quick turnaround on multiple stories (staff reporters, AP wire, correspondents) on a tight deadline for each issue, overseeing the production of 10-plus pages each night.
  • Represented the sports department at daily editorial meetings to decide the content for each paper's issue, where I collaborated with other editors and page designers to create a polished, attractive product.
  • Worked with staff photographers, freelancers, correspondents and interns to ensure deadlines were met and stories and photo cutlines were factually accurate.
  • Showed problem-solving and interpersonal skills by fielding phone calls from the public and providing assistance for breaking news, getting publicity for a local event or directing to proper channels.
