February 10, 2016, Nick managed John directly

•  I have known John for several years, and he is a lifelong learner. When I met John, I was impressed with his organizational skills. After working with him on a complex manufacturing implementation project, I only grew to respect and trust his abilities exponentially more. If John did not know something, he was eager to learn. I consider John my 'right hand man' because he was just ALWAYS there willing to chip in, learn, develop, and execute.

•  2 quick examples:

•  1st) Almost entirely through his own studies, John learned how to map value streams and make Spaghetti diagrams, completing a current/future VSM, which helped us boil down our EXACT engineering proposals and improvements. This was essential to our efficient project usage of capital. We spent 99.5% of our capital budget and exceeded 97% completion of our Continuous Improvement Objectives.

•  Our manager said he'd never experienced that before.

•  2nd) We were teaching the facility staff which had never manufactured anything beyond one-step batch products how to make complex, multi-process and safely packaged medical devices).

•  One key goal I gave to John's leadership was to execute a major room layout adjustment, which involved all new furniture, some process simplifications and rearrangements, signage and product handling requirements, and significant training. This project had to occur over weekend hours so as not to disrupt normal production. At the time we were product back-logged on 40% of our product codes. John's leadership to assess and determine best functional furniture, find, negotiate, receive, organize, and execute were all done FLAWLESSLY.

•  After our major project completed, we saw product back-logs significantly reduce over the following weeks because our operational efficiency was so improved. It uniquely allowed us to find and identify further process improvements as well.

•  In summary, I hope I am as flexible, creative, organized, and hard working as John. He is a powerful asset if you want to move fast and get things right.

Always professional and with a good sense of humor, John worked through some difficult issues as he helped all involved reach consensus.
