Systems/IT

• Functioned as department's lead or assistant lead throughout system installations, conversions, and upgrades including Meditech to EPIC, EPIC updates, IV and infusion pumps, Pyxis Medstation 4000 to Medstation ES, KitCheck RFID system, PhillipsRemote Environmental Monitoring.
• Acted as liaison among end users, third parties, and system representatives throughout all phases of project lifecycle.
• Reviewed and corrected interface errors in the EPIC workqueue, audited surgical cases to assure correct charting and charging, and monitored the entire hospital for high-dollar and large-quantity orders.
• Investigated end-user narcotic discrepancies between EPIC and Pyxis until the incident is resolved.
• Provided end-user training on how to use various systems in the network environment.

Management

• Supervised and directed a staff of up to 30 pharmacy technicians and interns.
• Played a lead role in all steps of the hiring process, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Mentored new employees during their first 90 days and beyond to assure employee satisfaction and prevent turnover.
• Addressed performance issues in a positive way through solid coaching, and genuine recognition of improvement.
• Conducted annual performance reviews, and provided guidance for the staff in the development of their personal goals to assure alignment with company objectives.
• Assured that pharmacy complied with all local, state, and federal regulations keeping the department inspection-ready.
• Created user accounts and assigned access privileges based on individual roles within the organization.

Leadership

• Completed the Providence Leadership Development program, which collaborated new managers with seasoned professionals and fostered meaningful relationships.
• Represented the hospital as part of a regional think tank convened to identify the requirements and improvements needed during the pharmacy automation system upgrade.
• Served as a representative of the hospital during two union contract negotiations.
• Teamed with the Head of Anesthesiology to address issues of safety and sterility in the operating rooms; worked effectively with anesthesiologists to assure that the pharmacy department provided for their needs at all times.

• Responded to constituent inquiries regarding legislative issues.
• Represented the elected official at public events and community meetings.
• Researched best practices from other states' legislatures in order to inform policy decisions.
• Prepared briefing materials for hearings or floor debates.
• Managed relationships with lobbyists, advocacy groups, constituents, and other stakeholders on behalf of the elected official.
