Receive material using the receipt processing program, identified, examined, and counted, sorted by class code a variety of commodities including medical, clothing, textiles, electronics, construction and industrial material etc
Received in return material using DD form 1348 and vendor material using DD form 250 or vendor invoices
Check material for damage, shortages, overage, wrong stock number, and wrong item and prepare proper documentation such as Report of Discrepancies (ROD)
Use a variety of hand tools such as crow bar, hammers, screw drivers and also used a variety of gauges to measure material such as tape measures, calipers
Used the following systems to help identify material, sammtel, and fed-log, make visual inspection of material for damages and down grade material condition codes according to procedures
Make receipt revision correction on contracts and 1348 documents, change, delete discrepancy reports
Resolve discrepancy reports on material shipped from vendors and other depots
Check and verify shelf life on material verify that the material is marked and packed properly, if not send to area for proper marking, verify existing locations to route material for proper storage, use computer terminal route tubs to proper warehouse locations using routing guides etc
Determine the hazardous characteristics of item received, assigning Proper Shipping Name of these items by analyzing MSDS information when available, contacting the manufacture, consulting HMIRS system, or by previous knowledge of the item
Pilferable material goes to the vault depending of the CIIC code
I also worked on the receiving dock, in checking trucks
Verifying material was being delivered to the right place, make sure material wasn’t hazardous, oversized, pilferable or damaged
If material was damaged I filled out the proper discrepancy reports
Routed trucks to the proper warehouses on the depot
I unloaded with pallet jack or forklift material from trucks
I de packed material from tri wall onto pallets so they could be received into the DSS system
This job also consists of examining stock / material from many different sources such as contractors, vendors, redistribution and customer returns
I have had to inventory and sort stock by NSN, commodity, condition of material and if need be, down grade condition of material by researching if item is repairable or not repairable
Once the inspection process is completed I have to send the material to the proper warehouse location, by size, pop code, and classification of material to be stowed in the proper location
I also have to ensure material is packed and marked according to military standards
Receive material designated for immediate shipment and scheduled for release
Ensure that information contained on the documents matches material to be shipped
Examine shipping documents to determine cargo loading requirements
Checks transportation control number, stock, quantity, weight, cube, priority, and other codes describing material
Review shipping documents for information such as destination, priority, and weight
Based on this information, determines if the Material should be shipped Air or Surface
