• Provide safety leadership to our Lower 48 (L48) Operations and Maintenance organization, to include Agency requirements, ConocoPhillips policies and standards, and compliance strategies to support the overall safety and health of our workforce
• Support the accurate and timely reporting of incidents and near misses to meet the requirements
• This includes all leading and lagging data such as near miss, injury, LOPC, PSE, LSR, audit findings, etc
• Ensures HSE excellence through training, involvement in behavior-based programs, auditing of management and safety systems, rig and site inspections, gathering and trending key performance indicators
• Maintain a working knowledge of the HSE Management System
• Partner with other team members to utilize tools to inform the workforce of emerging trends identified in leading indicators
• Participate in incident investigations, leading incident investigations, learning teams, and preparing findings suitable for management review
• Act as a subject matter expert during field activities, ensuring compliance with procedures, LSR’s and OSHA, and promoting full implementation of programs
• Support emergency response protocols and ICS roles during the initial response to an emergency
• Participate in HSE auditing, whether it be preparing for an external audit, supporting an internal BU or contractor audit, or acting as a subject matter expert for a PSSR or Focused Audit
• Support on-the-job safety meetings by providing assistance, direction and resource materials as needed, to enhance overall effectiveness and impact
• Work a rotating schedule.

• Support the VP of Safety in leading the external reputation and facilitate the community and governmental interaction and prepare required reports, requests for information and inquiry responses and facilitate governmental inspections, customer visits and company audits
• Identify contractor support and talent needs and oversee onsite contractor activity and understand local risks applicable to contractor and external service providers, implement, monitor, and evaluate approved processes to control local environmental, health and safety risks with contractors
• Develop suitable training content and delivery models in line with global, regional, and legal requirements, conduct gap assessment to identify competence needs, adjust curriculum to reflect site specific demand and organize and provide appropriate training
• Understand, implement, and execute environmental, health and safety controls and programs and work processes such as risk identification and assessment, emergency action planning and incident management, agency inspections and audit and internal inspections to ensure they work as intended
• Partner with regional operations manager and project leaders and the regional organization to promote and drive a strong environmental, health and safety culture in the facility team by building a mindset where a continuous improvement mentality is viewed as essential to success
• Participate as a member of the leadership team and consult on planning, issue and incident response and operational environment, health and safety and process safety compliance, understanding systems, integrated processes, regulatory issues and workforce conditions
• Ensure strong alignment of environment, health and safety goals, metrics and targets with BHI’s vision and targets and govern site performance targets together with the Area Operations manager
• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

• Provide training on hazard identification and mitigation with the public and business entities
• Interact with constituents and provide corrective actions and education regarding at risk behaviors
• Prepare written reports and paperwork to document interactions for legal proceedings
• Prepare HAZ-MAT documents, storage advice and hazard mitigation for owners of Anhydrous Ammonia and other hazardous chemicals
• Respond to emergencies in defense of persons and property
• Conduct investigations, conduct, and make appropriate detentions of persons who have violated persons safety
• Oversee community relations projects and tasks
• Manage corrective work programs, review job hazards, and conduct pre-job tailgate meetings
• Prepare reports and testify in legal proceedings in defense of the health and wellbeing of the public
