Deputy Sheriff

  • Deputy Sheriff/Tactical Flight Observer - Aviation Unit. As a tactical Flight Observer, my duties included locating missing persons, (search and rescue), fleeing persons and vehicles from law enforcement ground units while simultaneously utilizing FLIR and AERO flight computer systems, working department and aircraft radios, and utilizing night vision goggles when necessary.
  • At times, I also operated department aircraft when needed or for training purposes.
  • Sex Crimes Detective - Criminal Investigations Bureau. As a Detective, I was assigned to the Major Crimes Special Victims Unit (SVU.)
  • My duties included investigating sex crimes involving adults and juveniles, human trafficking, missing persons, child abuse, elderly abuse, death investigations, financial crimes and property crimes investigations.
  • During those investigations, I gathered facts from interviews of suspects, witnesses and complainants.
  • I collected crime scene evidence, examined bodies and investigated secondary locations to build detailed cases based on sound evidence handling practices.
  • I was also called to deliver calm, professional testimony to support case evidence, establish timelines and offer law enforcement expertise multiple times in court.
  • Many of my cases resulted in life sentences for arrested suspects.

  • During annual or bi-weekly training, I would instruct personnel in firearms training or recertification and instructed personnel in stop stick deployment.
  • I also taught the law enforcement academy recruits firearms training and handling along with high risk traffic stops.
  • At times, I would also instruct civilians in HR218 certification and recertification.
  • Field Training Officer (FTO) - Uniform Road Patrol
  • After completing multiple classes to become an FTO, I trained new personnel assigned to me, hired to fulfill various roles.
  • During my time as an FTO, I was also at times assigned as acting supervisor to fulfill one of three vacant supervisor spots during shifts.

  • As a Deputy Sheriff, my duties included investigating crime scenes, communicating with the public and community service.
  • Additional duties included proactive patrolling, conducting lawful traffic stops, investigating vehicle accidents along with being the initial responder to multiple emergency calls, to include but not limited to; medical emergencies, robberies, home invasions, domestic disputes and more.
  • 911 Emergency Dispatcher/Teletype Operator/Background Investigations -
  • As a 911 dispatcher, my duties included taking non-emergency calls, 911 emergency calls, operating NCIC/FCIC, DAVID, CLEAR operating systems along with other law enforcement computer systems and non-law enforcement systems such as Microsoft programs, Adobe, etc.
  • I also operated teletype and radio dispatching for law enforcement which included imputing calls for service, running background checks on persons and vehicles for law enforcement officers, and other requests made by law enforcement officers from multiple agencies.
  • I would also run background checks on potential new employees for the Human Resources department.
