Work History

Web Developer

I was interviewed by 4 LMS consultants and programmers and the supervisor of Labor Management Systems at AMTRAK. I was an expert in Cobol and CICS on the IBM mainframe and was Microsoft Certified for .Net. I knew SQL but not DB2 specifically.

The position was supposed to be for .Net Web Server only but I was hired because I had extensive Cobol expertise that would be useful on the mainframe side of the Paperless Time Ticket sytem.

Progressed as an Assistant Data Processing Officer, Data Processing Officer, Assistant Vice President, and Vice President while remaining as a Senior/System programmer working directly under the Senior Vice President in charge of Management Information Systems and having staff only for the time the bank converted NCR-315 systems over to IBM Assemble Language and Cobol Systems in 1972. I would rewrite parts of systems that were not operating optimally. I was "Mr. Fixit" for many projects during and after development. I would be a technical advisor on installing new systems developed by Riggs or bought from others like our M&I Deposit Systems. I was a Vice President from 1977 to 2005 when PNC bought the bank.
