Extra-Curricular Activities

During my time as an apprentice I had wonderful leadership opportunities as the chairman of the volunteer and treasurer of the ASSA. As the volunteer chairman I oversaw the recruitment of new volunteers, planning for events, scheduling of volunteers and fostered working relationships with local organizations in our community. Most notably: The Peninsula Rescue Mission, The Mariners Museum, and the Suffolk Public Library system. As treasurer I assisted with monitoring, recording and planning of the ASSA FY 2025 budget by processing funds requests and monitoring the budget and accounts with our staff financial advisor.

I am also a member of Front Line FAST (Foreman Acquired Skills Training) Cohort 22. FAST is a yearlong leadership training that prepares apprentices for the rigors of a waterfront foreman position. It was during my time in FAST what I was able to further refine my public speaking skills into stronger team centered collaboration. I was also considered the stand out speaker at my cohort's capstone.
