Teaching NCCER curriculum to TDOC inmates including core safety, electrical, plumbing and carpentry. NCCER is a nationwide standard certification for vocational training. My primary goal is to provide vocational skills to inmates to help them re-enter the workforce upon release. Responsibilities also require close coordination with both TDOC and TCA T to ensure that inmate education is performed in compliance with TDOC policy (safety, inventory, security) as well as satisfying TCAT requirements.
Supervised inmate labor performing maintenance activities. Managed and prioritized work orders from assignment to completion. Responsible for inmate supervision, leading the completion of tasks, supplying inmates with necessary equipment and subsequently inventorying and logging of all tools used per TDOC policy daily.
Coordinated with the Tennessee Department of Health for inspections of all kitchens and housing units. Instrumental in helping TDOC pass ACA accreditation and achieving consistently high Health Department scores. Responsibilities included monthly compound inspections, monthly inventory of all chemicals and tools, maintaining supply levels for various institutions, and coordinating/supervision of outside vendors.
Responsible for maintaining inmate counts. Working one-on-one with inmates in Maximum Security and Medium Security units. Following strict procedures to ensure the safety of inmates and other officers.
