I started in the refinery industry as a firewatch/holewatch. Then advanced to a mechanical helper. I used every opportunity i had to learn more about equipment and job scope tasks . I worked on maintenance with JVIC at Flint Hills Resources in Corpus Christi, TX. In all working on the maintenance side at Flint Hills you work on all types of equipment learning about all equipment and not just a certain type. I learned alot in just the 3 years soaking in all the experience from the journeyman I was working with side by side. The only reason I was laid off from JVIC was because they had brought in another company for their maintenance execution.

• Identified issues and brought to attention of foreman.
• Shaped seams, joints and irregular edges of pressure vessel sections and structural parts to attain specified fit of parts.
• Opened, cleaned and repaired pressure vessels.
• Studied blueprints to determine locations, relationships and dimensions of parts.
• Inspected and assembled tubes, fittings, valves, controls and auxiliary mechanisms to locate defects.
• Cleaned pressure vessel equipment by using scrapers, wire brushes and cleaning solvents.
