I am also a life time member with the VFW at Donald L. Drum VFW Post 5305. I started out as the Quartermaster which is were I would handle money for the post. I am also the Quartermaster for District 14 for the dept. of NC VFW. I was elected as Commander of the post in 2022 through today. I have 112 veteran member, 130 Auxiliary Members, and 50 volunteers that is at the post. We conduct fundraisers for local veterans that are needing help with remodeling of the houses. We also conduct a bike ride every year to raise funds so we can continue our work. The post has made All American every year since I became the Commander. I have also personally went to veterans in crisis and was a sympathetic ear for them to talk to. The post has grown since I took over as Commander. I have learned how to run a bar. Not by choice but I have had to make tough decision to bar members from the bar. I have started to go to other post in the area and help them build a good base so they can grow as well.
