Responsible for the operation and maintenance of canal locks and associated structures. Ensures the smooth operation of canal locks and maintaining safety and efficiency of the canal system.
Responsibilities include:
*Supervision - Overseeing employees on the day shift and assigned Canal Structure Operators on the second and third shifts.
*Maintenance - Planning, supervising and conducting daily preventative maintenance on the assigned lock and structures.
*Inspections: Conducting daily inspections of machinery, equipment and associates structures.
*Public Relations - Maintaining good public relations during lock operation navigation season
*Providing Information - Providing boat operators and owners, tourists and visitors about canal lock operations and required safety precautions.
*Reporting - Prepare daily reports of activities associated with lock operations and weather, temperature and water levels. Reports any violation of canal rules and regulations and accidents.
