I tell people all the time (and it is true) that this is the best job I've ever had. It was more of a winding road to get here than what I expected, but I am grateful for the opportunity to get back into the world of education in a field that I am passionate about. I hope to continue this path by gaining my MSED in History.
I have been teaching high school American History, American Government, world history and many other electives here at Fair Play High School since January of 2019. I love the small school environment and have really enjoyed my time here. I first started my teaching career teaching English, but this discipline fits me so much better. I hope to earn a MSED in History to improve my knowledge, which I hope, in turn will also enhance the education of my students.
After receiving my degree in English Education I got a position teaching English at Dadeville, MO. I taught there for 3 years and resigned to change subjects and get a Master's Degree in History. I realized that I enjoyed being in the classroom, but I did not wish to teach English any longer. Unfortunately due to some life and family events I was not able to get back into the classroom until 2019. Now I wish to finish the Master's degree that I began all those years ago.
Since I have arrived at Fair Play I have taught a variety of classes, maintained a good working relationship with students, colleagues and parents Besides my regular course load I have been scholar bowl coach every year that I have been here I have also coached cross-country and baseball as well as doing additional duties such as supervising students in many different settings as well as our multi-day senior trip that we take every year to San Antonio, TX
