Girls Soccer Coach

Northwest Middle School
Travelers Rest, SC, SC
01.2024 - 04.2024
  • Last season was my first season as the head coach at Northwest. I had heard from the girls that the seasons before weren't exactly successful. I handpicked the team myself of course. Some of the girls that were on the team I have coached since they were 7 and 8 so i knew that they had been guided like they should. I did not base any of my decisions oon who played the season before. I based it off what i saw in tryouts. I worked with the girls on basics and improving their "basics". We started out with 0-2 start to the season. We wound up ending the season with a 5-3-1 record. The one was a tie that was called at halftime. If we would have finished the game and won we would have been going to the playoffs.
  • Last season to me was a great success. I worked on building them as a team and striving to be the best. I had girls who were "afraid " to take a shot. My saying for them always was, You can't make a shot if you don't take a shot. I taught them that aspect not only on the field but off the field also. I knew that we may not have won it all the first season (which we didn't do bad at all), but i wanted to use last season to build a foundation for our team this season. I am more than confident that i did that. I am hoping to have the chance to build ON that foundation and lead these girls to another winning season and hopefully a state championship.
  • Anyone who saw my team play could see the improvement and teamwork that was formed from the beginning of the season to the end. I would like to keep the momentum going this season.
