As a security guard I've mostly worked to check and monitor people at facility access points, do patrols to find any possible damage to people or property, and help employees access certain areas after confirming their identities. What I've done at previous sites has always been simple, but necessary in hindsight. Patrolling around and being visible deters those seeking trouble. Deescalation is usually my first choice when it comes to emergencies. Jumping to conclusions isn't ideal when dealing with people in distress, but at some points contacting either my supervisor or proper authorities is required. Staying calm and thinking things through has ended more than one conflict for me whilst working for Securitas.
