At WSP, my duties included leading UAS crews using Matrice 300 and Wingtra 1 Gen 2 drones to fly large areas including long corridors and solar farms, and processing data. Also led SUE crews to locate utilities, then survey them with drones, and process and digitize data. Was also available to assist the company in completing any conventional work as well.
At Summit, my duties included survey field location and flying a Phantom 4 Pro to generate orthoimagery using DJI Groundstation Pro.
After being layed-off due to Covid, I performed various jobs for locals in my neighborhood and surrounding areas including yard work, maintenance, painting, pressure washing, etc.
At WithersRavenel, I worked as an Instrument Person on 2 and 3 person crews for approximately 13 months. I have experience operating Topcon Instruments with Spectra Precision data collectors as well as newer Leica Instruments, both manual and robotic, coupled with newer model Carlson Surveyor data collectors. I also have close to 5 years of experience using these data collectors while coupled with both Trimble and Spectra GPS rovers. My field duties included boundary, feature location, topographic surveys, staking and GPS location.
I began cross-training within my Geomatics Department after my stent as an Instrument Person in order to assist the company in developing it's SUE and Remote Sensing Departments while continuing to help survey field crews at times. I have approximately 3 years experience in the field as an SUE Technician and Crew Lead overseeing utility location using RadioDetection and Metrotech Instruments, Mala Ground Penetrating Radar and a VacMaster vacuum excavation rig. I have experience completing these tasks for local companies, municipalities and the NC Department of Transportation. During this time, I trained current and future members of the SUE Department to use manual and robotic Instruments as well as data collectors to locate utility marks. I was also trained to work with GIS and performed large location tasks for local municipalities.
As a licensed, fixed-wing Commercial Aviator as well as a licensed Part 107 Pilot, I feel that I provided a unique dynamic of safety, awareness and procedures to ensure successful Remote Sensing sUAS operations. My experience in Aviation also enabled me to provide specialized preparation for employees with a 100% pass rate of the FAA Part 107 written exam. My field duties included piloting a Matrice 600 drone with a Reigl LiDar sensor to gather topographic data. This was coupled with office duties of processing data using Pix4D software. I also completed photogrammetry projects utilizing a Matrice 100 and Phantom 4 Pro drone, Pix 4D software along with Carlson and AutoCad to digitize SUE locate marks. I was able to utilize all the surveying skills developed since my initial hire to help efficiently complete tasks as a Remote Sensing Technician. My total time in the Remote Sensing Field was approximately 3.5 years at WithersRavenel.
As my first surveying experience, I was trained to operate an older model TopCon total station coupled with an older TDS Ranger data collector. I was responsible for conventionally collecting data as well as construction staking for small residential homes. I also developed a working knowledge of GPS location using a Spectra GPS rover.
