I have retired from county work obligations and have always wanted to continue working as a substance use disorder counselor with a focus on clinical case management. I complected UCLA's certificate program in Alcohol and Drug counseling and CSULA's certificate in Clinical Counseling for the LPCC requirement. I am not sure if I want to continue to become a therapist however I am sure I would like to provice counseling/case management and administrative support services for a residential and/or out-patient drug rehabilitation agency.
Provided Social Worker, Social Worker Supervisor and Administrator services to Los Angeles County children and their families.
As Children's Services Administrator I oversaw our 3.2m "Family Reunification" program for 10 years which provided residential and outpatient substance use disorder services to our DCFS families county-wide, working closely with LA County Department of Public Health, SAPC and community service providers. I also worked in may other programs and with community providers that provided counseling, parenting and housing services. Further, I was redeployed of over a year to work with St. Joseph Center during the pandemic, providing homeless outreach services in the Mar Vista and Santa Monica areas of Los Angeles.
Provided academic, personal and vocational/career counseling to students. Helped and advised them to understand university and college procedures with registration, financial aid and graduation requirements.
When with DCFS and overseeing our Family Reunification program I attended monthly meetings with our substance use disorder providers as well as DPH-SAPC administrators monitoring client attendance, treatment plans, progress and making recommendations for reunification Also, since I oversaw the program I reviewed and approved monthly reimbursements to agencies for the services they provided
