  • Develop and oversee instructional course and program material within various disciplines and fields of study. Maintain relevant knowledge of laws, regulations, and law enforcement techniques (as well as any changes) and initiate content changes accordingly. Provide senior level subject-matter expertise and address gaps in information when revising existing material or developing new material. Develop different approaches and methods of instruction and recommend any changes needed to improve the program and achieve program objectives.
  • Administer (and/or participate in) training and provide mentorship to students on a variety of law enforcement topics, many of which require regular physical activity, in areas such as (but is not limited to), defensive tactics, firearms, physical fitness, aerosol subject restraint, active shooter, and tactical medicine. Monitor progress of students, document results, and/or recommend remedial and corrective action to include additional training and/or operational procedures and instructions. Evaluate both individual and group performance in various training settings.
  • Coordinate training logistics, student/personnel management, and other operational matters to ensure successful execution of training courses and meet overall program goals.
  • Collaborate on projects with staff members, department leaders, and external partners to further the Training Division’s overall mission. Maintain general oversight and provide mentorship to part-time instructors and ensure training staff compliance with assignments and projects.
  • Maintain training records and ensure departmental compliance with local and State mandates. Handle record-keeping and filing in accordance with best practices in preparation for audits.
  • Acquire and maintain (in good standing) all necessary professional certifications and seek out continuing education. Maintain an agency firearm license in good standing and regularly carry a firearm on a day-to-day basis.
