Developed RTAC project to communicate with SCADA at two Utility solar/storage installations to allow Supervisory, PJM or localized control of PV and Batteries.
Sr. Engineer
Duke Energy, ADMS
01.2020 - 06.2023
Configuration, testing and deployment of SCADA in Midwest Jurisdiction, involving 1.2 million points.
Developed python script to retrieve info (Model, Settings Group, Pickup values, DNP3 Mapping, etc.) from 6,000 reclosers to develop Adaptive Relay templates for CLFISR.
Perform event analysis on CLFISR events to confirm that service restoration was achieve to minimize customer outage.
Engineer III
Duke Energy Dist. Energy Technologies Tech Stds
01.2014 - 01.2020
Reviewed IEEE 1547 implementation for grid connected DER.
Developed standard interconnection power quality meter design at DER location(s).
Collaborating with Distribution Standards, Asset Management, GIS, DSCADA, DPAC and Telecom to implement process flow for device install, tracking and telemetry.
Designed new standard DER BTM interconnection device for net-metered customers between 250 – 1000kW. Utilizing a RTAC, MODBUS, DNP3 protocols and provides SCADA visibility of behind the meter customer generation and active/reactive power control.
Revised the second meter project, which installs a second meter at the customer premise for solar generation and brings data back through Openway, MDM, and Datamart to visualize in Power BI.
Engineer II
Duke Energy EMS/DMS (Carolinas)
01.2012 - 01.2014
Performed checkouts on field telemetered device(s) such as Reclosers, Relays, Capacitors and Regulators.
Intimate knowledge off DNP3 protocol.
Developed application to retrieve fault data from reclosers to provide FLISR with correct fault current to accurately locate fault.
Supported Emerging Technologies group with two Microgrids projects and solar/storage facility implementing algorithms (Energy smoothing, shifting and frequency regulation) using MQTT pub/sub architecture.
Engineer I
Duke Energy Smart Energy Special Projects
01.2010 - 01.2012
Developed, supported and transitioned Envision Charlotte project that provided telemetry to kiosks located in select downtown buildings.
Envision Charlotte project was named project of the year by DistribuTECH in 2012.
