  • In coordination with the Budget Director, develop the General-Purpose budget for each fiscal year based on priorities established by the Superintendent and School Board.
  • Compile and analyze information on costs for new and existing programs.
  • Coordinate with various departments on funding, expenditures, position allocations, and respond to inquiries, run reports, and act as information resource for the budget account holder.
  • Monitor budgets each month for accuracy and work to correct any discrepancies. Track positions are properly coded to the correct funding source. Collaborate with other Finance departments to ensure the accuracy of general ledger codes for both positions and expenditures
  • Present budget information to the district’s regional councils and other groups as needed, and produce financial information to publish an annual budget document.
  • Manage the general-purpose full-time equivalents (FTEs) consisting of valid vacancies, average salary, benefit projections, cost analysis of percentage increases and raises, and adjustments to budgeted positions
  • Participate in the staffing allocation process each year by working with Principals and district level personnel to implement recommended allocations. Monitor projected enrollment and the budgetary impact of average daily membership fluctuations. Produce staffing rosters in the fall to ensure compliance with allocations. Work with Human Resources in the Spring to interpret staffing allocations and funding sources during individual meetings.
  • Once the annual budget is adopted, track unbudgeted requests and compile the financial impact of recurring items
  • Manage the job posting system from a budget perspective, including but not limited to approval of the position, verifying the funding source of the position, monitoring staffing levels against established allocations, create or terminating positions as needed
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions to ensure funding is in place—process budget line-item transfers and report changes in significant category levels of spending to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
  • Responsible for cataloguing the district's supplement not supplant methodology submitted to the state in conjunction with the consolidated application.
