Machinery Technician primary responsibilities include conducting marine diesel and outboard engine maintenance. Troubleshoot engine discrepancies, manage and populate upcoming maintenance procedures, supervise maintenance work parties performed by subordinates, and report any boat casualties to senior leadership.

While stationed aboard Major US Coast Guard ships, respond to ship board fire casualties and effectively lead the Fire Team Party to include task direction, troubleshooting, ensure clear and concise communication with Fire team and on scene leader. Effectively navigate through high stress situations to save the ship, and in turn save lives of shipmates.

As a Search and Rescue First Responder, mission tasks include responding to mariners in distress such as flooding, sinking, and burning vessels. The scope of response also includes assisting personnel with injuries and ensuring efficiency of care while simultaneously providing a safe and rapid transfer to the nearest First Responders ashore.

While stationed near the Canadian border in Bellingham, WA as a Integrated Cross-border Maritime Law Enforcement Officer I performed over one hundred hours of joint maritime patrols with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ensuring the safety and security of our borders from illegal smuggling to include people, narcotics, and firearms. The Cross-border designation and dual partnership while deployed with the RCMP allowed our mission to observe cross-border criminality and pursue into either US or Canadian waters.

As a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the USCG duties and responsibilities include ensuring and enforcing laws, rules, and regulations are followed and upheld within the jurisdiction of the United States. Conducting safety inspections of vessels, intercepting vessels smuggling illegal narcotics, protection of people, property, ports and waterways.
