Jordan McAllister

Newburgh,NY

Summary

During my tenure as a substitute teacher, Student teacher, and camp consular, I have developed skills that will be necessary for student safety, engagement and relationships. Substitute teaching and camp counseling has taught me how to adopt to different students regarding behavioral and management methods. Relationships and interpersonal skills with students are essential so students have a sense of safety and develop the confidence to participate in lessons and activities without the fear of being judged by their peers. During my student teaching journey, with the help of my mentor and co teacher, I developed effective individual and group activities. My lesson plans consisted of videos, images, sentence starters, reference sheets containing unfamiliar words and phrases, reading documents and songs not only to accommodate for all students learning methods, but to make the lesson engaging for students as well. From my experience, an all inclusive and safe learning environment is a productive method for student growth and success.
