  • Spoke before the Learning Collaborative for Texas HHSC Outpatient Behavioral Health Service for those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Funding about including Peer Support as a service with that funding on July 24, 2020
  • Peer Support Specialist View of IDD AND Mental Health Services Presentation for The Hub Learning Community, a Transition Support Team at Integal Care
    March 22, 2021
  • Meeting with TX Senate Committee on Health & Human Services Policy Analyst April 1, 2021 to discuss SB 1457 which would expand Peer Support to Individual with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as a Medicaid Benefit.
  • Meeting with Senator Powell's Policy Analyst Alyssa Hutchison on April 9, 2021 to discuss SB 1457 which would expand Peer Support to Individual with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as a Medicaid Benefit.
  • Through the effort of leading a committee of individuals passionate about IDD Peer Support during the 2023 Texas Legislative Session we got Senator Zaffirini to file a IDD Peer Support Bill for the 3rd Texas Legislative session in a row and also got for the first time as far as I know got a House Companion Bill filed by Representative Liz Campos.
  • Testified before Texas House Human Services Committee on HB 4702 on April 18, 2023 which would created stakeholder group to create Medicaid
    Billable IDD Peer Support Certification and Services for Persons with IDD living Outside of State Supported Living Centers. HB 4702 passed the House
    May 6, 2023 but didn't get hearing in Senate HHS Committee even through efforts by myself to get Sen. Kolkhorst to give the bill a hearing on the final
    Sunday of the 2023 Texas Legislative Session by speaking with her office in person and staying until midnight just incase the bill got a hearing.
  • selected as the award recipient of the AAIDD Texas Chapter’s Empowerment Award for Excellence in Promotion of Self-Advocacy at its 47th Annual Convention at the Grand Galvez, Galveston, TX.
  • selected as the award recipient of the AAIDD Texas Chapter's Dr. Ollie Seay Knowledge Award for Excellence in Education or Research at it's 48th Annual Convention at the Grand Glavez, Galveston, TX.
