DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF NURSING ASSISTANT in relation to the job vacancy

1. Assists in housekeeping duties to maintain safe and therapeutic environment by:

  • A. Making the beds ensuring that they are provided with clean linens and pillows. adjusting bed rails for patient’s safety.
  • B. Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the patient unit at all times. cleaning beds, bedside tables, counters, cabinets, and bedside chairs; emptying the bedpan.
  • C. Filling up drinking bottles at the bedside tables; washing glasses and spoons of bed-patients.
  • D. Performing concurrent and terminal disinfections; observing infection control at all times.
  • E. Ensuring the correct counts of articles in the room as endorsed by the outgoing aide, and upon discharge of the patient.
  • F. Arranging for the removal of all used or discontinued equipment from patient areas; putting off equipment no longer in use.


2. Participates in regular rounds with the ward nurses to know required basic nursing care to be provided.


3. Provides basic nursing care to patients by way of:

  • A. Assisting ambulatory patients in bathing and provide total bathing in bed for non-ambulatory patients.
  • B. Assisting patients in sponging, shampooing and shaving to ensure maintenance of personal hygiene and comfort.
  • C. Assisting in feeding patients who cannot eat by themselves.
  • D. Assisting in transporting, ambulating, turning, and positioning of patients.
  • E. Performing simple treatment like perineal care; SS enema, catheterization, hot sitz bath, vaginal douche, peri light steam inhalation.
  • F. Assisting in dressing wounds as directed.
  • G. Measuring fluid intake and output.
  • H. Assisting in taking, recording, and reporting vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and patient’s weight.
  • Reports significant observations particularly changes in the patient’s condition to nurses on duty to generate corresponding response.


4. Prepares consumable nursing care supplies such as cotton balls, applicators, gauze, etc. Undertakes sterilization, disinfection of supplies and instruments as needed. acts as custodian for the safekeeping of supplies issued to nursing care unit.


5. Assisting in preparing patients for treatment and examination by performing delegated procedures:

  • A. Shaving patients for surgery.
  • B. Escorting or transporting patients to other medical departments at which procedures will be undertaken.
  • C. Providing post-mortem care.


6. Provides specimen vials, collects urine and stool specimen, and sends them to the laboratory for examination.


7. Acts as message relay conduit between the patient and his/her family and the concerned hospital officers or employees.


8. Responds and attends to all patients in the absence of an available nurse on duty.


9. Consolidates diet lists and relays information to the Dietary department.


10. Undertakes internal errands and coordinative activities related to administrative requirements of the nurses’ station.


11. Prepares weekly planner on the activities to be undertaken and prepares reports on actual results, outputs and accomplishments based on the plans at the end of the week. consolidates accomplishment reports in the monthly performance reports.


12. Undertakes work activities in conformity with the institutional guidelines on safety and infection control; participates in the quality assurance program.


13. Attends training programs and learning sessions for the enhancement of professional, technical, and personal proficiencies.


14. Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous and germane or related to/or implied from the above enumeration and duties and responsibilities.

  • Guest Services
  • Assist guests with accommodation-related inquiries and requests.
  • Ensure guest rooms are prepared according to hotel standards prior to arrival.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns regarding rooms or facilities.
  • Support special guest requests (extra bedding, amenities, accessibility needs).
  • Housekeeping & Room Management
  • Coordinate with housekeeping staff to ensure timely cleaning and room readiness.
  • Conduct routine room and area inspections to maintain cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Report maintenance issues or damages to the maintenance department.
  • Assist with linen, laundry, and inventory control as required
  • Front Office & Administration
  • Communicate room status updates with the front desk team.
  • Assist with check-in/check-out coordination when needed.
  • Maintain accurate accommodation records and logs.
  • Follow hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure hygiene, health, and safety standards are followed at all times.
  • Comply with hotel security and emergency procedures.
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
