- As a maintenance worker we must perform pipe fitting duties , as well as labor work for the location in which we work in .
- Most important you are to work safely and have knowledge of JHA documents and permits , safe work practices , proper PPE , rules and regulations regarding the work and unit you are in and LOTO procedures to insure a safe work environment. Communicating with coworkers and operation team is also very important .
- When working on wells , injection or production we design, build and install the piping needed to direct the movement of oil, water and gas. Our work does not only apply to wells but applies to anything around the island or location in which we work in .
- As a maintenance worker You might work on high-pressure water or gas systems, crawl through pipelines or climb to considerable heights to work. Knowing the flow in the systems you work on , pressure in which each system is accustom to or how to operate valves and equipment properly is very important to protect yourself against gas , oil , water or chemical leaks . Most of these pipes and systems are very heavy and hold a lot of pressure so you must always have 360 awareness and avoid pinch points .
- You may be called on to perform other tasks, such as removing water or other fluids from the ground or other areas in which they don’t belong. You may encounter locations with obstructions, such as rocks or other obstacles in which may have to removing the blockage. A lot of these pipes and systems have specific valves and pipe sizes so your job also entails of ordered the correct materials such as valves , pipes , and equipment.
