My time at Giampolini has consisted of maintenance painting for USF Facilities & transitioning into the commercial painting field. Here I’ve gained the responsibilities of becoming a Foreman Painter, overseeing numerous of painting projects as well as USF maintenance account. Throughout the last 3 years as a Journeyman Painter & Foreman at Giampolini, I’ve gained the following experience of:

• Overseeing work projects based on blue prints and client coordination, comprehending and meeting requirements & deadlines.
• Providing direction and the supervision of crews ensuring quality, job specifications, & tidiness is being met . As well as providing all material & equipment needed for an efficient workflow & positive working environment.
• Inspecting completed work for quality control, ensuring finishes are up to both company & clients standards.
• Creating detailed reports on supplies, change orders, and labor costs for billing purposes.
• Using & mixing of industrialized painting products such as 2 part finishes, epoxy resins, fireproofing, monokote, & etc
• Proper use of different stains & varnishes as well as the safe disposal of all used rags and equipment according to fire hazards.

• Operated heavy machinery for demolition projects in various environments.
• Used hand tools and power tools effectively for various demolition tasks.
• Operated various hand and power tools including jackhammers, saws, drills, wrenches.

Completed 4 year apprenticeship through District Council 16 - Union Local 3 under the supervision of Basco Drywall & Painting.

My time at Basco consisted of an intro into the paint and construction industry. Gaining the proper training, skills, and safety knowledge necessary to perform as a Journeyman Painter.

Throughout my transition as a 50% apprentice to a Journeyman I’ve:

• Learned the proper knowledge of masking for neat exterior & interior painting. Gaining experience on the usage of masking machines & blades, masking paper, rosin paper, plastic, and various tapes as pertaining to the masking of windows, floors, hardware, walls, & etc.
• Gained hands on skills on the proper prep & patching before painting. Learning to mix and use spackling & joint compound, hot mud, stucco patch, caulking, bondo, putty, scrapers, putty knives, sanders etc as needed for woodwork, interior wall prep, metal, & exterior finishes.
• Learned the proper application of paint finishes as pertaining to sheens, durability, & surfaces. As well as proper primer use pertaining to new drywall/stucco, peeling, stains, dark color changes, metal & woodwork.
• Applied finishes via application of paint spraying, brushing, & rolling. Gaining mechanical knowledge of paint sprayers and set ups (tips, housings, filters, etc) as well as the different uses for roller naps & sizes.
• Gained the experience and knowledge of on the job safety as well as proper safety protocols while using ladders, scaffolding, boom lifts, scissor lifts, swing stage & etc.
