- I worked on three different offshore rigs with this company: a jackup, a semi-submersible DPS-5, and drillship DS-18. Throughout my time with the company working 28/28 or 21/21 at times, it was a great experience. I got lucky that I had hardworking crews on these rigs; they taught me a lot since I was hired.
- Working with cranes and the crane operator by being the banksman and flagging the loads. Rigging and slinging casing, drill pipe, drill collars, and various tools and equipment using nylon straps, rental slings, and slings, inspected risers in the riser bay.
- Helped all throughout the rig by assisting the drill crew with tripping drill pipe, and BHA, as well as getting pup joints, TIW, manual tongs, hydratongs, etc.
- Assisted HLO in landing, loading and unloading baggage and packages, fueling, and standing by as a firefighter for the helicopters.
- Maintained the rig by cleaning all over the rig, needle gunning, and painting, as well as cleaning the cranes and stack house.
- Assisted subsea with rigging up the BOP, installed, and removed bad rams, pods, and annulars.
- Greasing knuckleboom cranes, latus boom cranes, Christmas tree cranes, riser gantry cranes, and provisions cranes.
- Backload and offload boats with equipment and groceries. Inspected every load after lifting to prevent drops and used push poles and taglines.
- Assisted the chief mate and ABs with lifeboat and rescue craft launching and inspection, also keeping the fire lockers organized.
- Fire was watched, and gas was tested as needed for the welders.
- Assisted mechanics with crane equipment that needed to be changed due to hydraulic leaks.
- Installed frac lines, wireline, filtration units, coiled tubing, and Oceaneering ROV.
- Maintained a safe work environment by adhering to safety rules and regulations.
