Personal
I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a town called Houghton. I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and was adopted to my family when I was only 4 months old. Having both of these places' roots in me, I am now a hard-working, strong, kind, and grateful person. My family always raised me with a growth mind-set and made me work for what I wanted (within reason, of course). This means I started working at 15 and quickly started to save, invest, and learn the value of things at a young age. I have the mindset of "whatever the job may be and no matter the difficulty; I will succeed, do it right, and learn from any mistakes I make along the way.
When volunteering at the Humane Society of Houghton, Michigan, I would take 3-4 dogs on walks and play with the cats for a few hours each time I went. I did this throughout High School and tried to go every weekend.
