• Provides direct patient care and promotes the highest standards of clinical nursing care established on evidence based practice.
• Performs comprehensive assessment of patients in critical care setting and coordinates with other members of healthcare team the plan of care for the patient.
• Assists physicians in the performance of bedside procedures such as:

Central line insertion,

Quinton Catheter and HD catheter insertions,

percutaneous tracheostomy,

chest tube and PCD insertions,

mobile bronchoscopy,

endotracheal tube insertion,

paracentesis and thoracentesis.

• Monitoring and care of patients on:

Mechanical Ventilator

Noninvasive BIPAP

CRRT

ECMO

IABP

Chest and PCD tubes

External Ventricular Drain (EVD)

Arterial lines

CVP monitoring

• Monitoring of patients on inotropic support and sedation, calculate doses and titrates based on patients' response.
• Administration of medications (Oral, IV, SC, IM)
• Administration of Narcotics, Controlled and high alert medications.
• Interpreting Arterial Blood Gas results.
• Assisting in cardioversion and defibrillation.
• Monitoring and interpreting cardiac dysrhythmias and critical laboratory values.
• Ensures patient safety and confidentiality.
