Born and raised in Yakima, first-generation American with parents who immigrated from Mexico in the late 1970s to work the Valley’s fields and orchards. This is the only place I’ve ever called home, and I’m now raising my own kids here.
Since 2024 I’ve owned and operated Detail Gear, a specialty retail shop downtown. I personally research, select, photograph, catalog, describe, display, and maintain an inventory of several hundred high-end products. The day-to-day demands have built strong habits in accurate documentation, careful material handling, preservation-minded storage, and creating displays that clearly communicate purpose and value.
Those same disciplines — selecting what belongs, keeping detailed records, preserving condition, and organizing objects so their stories are easy to understand — are exactly what drew me to the Assistant Curator of Collections & Exhibitions position. My roots in this community, especially the Mexican-American experience that shaped my family, give me a real stake in seeing Yakima’s full history preserved and presented well.
I’m a fast learner with a proven eye for detail and a track record of managing every aspect of a small business on my own. Ready to bring that work ethic and local perspective to the museum team.
Held the role of Assistant Manager from 2017 to late 2018. In that position I oversaw daily shop operations, scheduled all customer appointments, prepared estimates, managed workflow for a team of technicians, ordered materials, and served as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and concerns to ensure smooth delivery and high satisfaction.
After stepping down from the management title to focus on hands-on work, I returned to my primary role as Painter while still assisting with management duties as needed. As Painter, I assess vehicle damage, determine the most efficient and effective repair methods, perform expert color matching and paint mixing, and execute refinishing that consistently meets or exceeds factory standards.
