Jose Hugo Osorio-Portillo

I am a local to the southwest Florida area. I am the son of two hard working immigrant parents that come from a small central American country. My father a roofer and my mother a owner of small central American restaurant. Education has been high priority for my family as my father never went to school and doesn't know to how to read or write. My mother didn't go to school as well and feels the limitation of that. That hard working mentality has been passed down to me, I was a leader at my high school JROTC program , section leader in my high school drumline. At the bonefish grill of Naples I held different positions and gave a helping hand whenever possible. I was a store manager for a local electronic shop and helped open a location in Bonita Springs. Every where I went I left a positive impact and never a bad impression or left on bad terms. Greatness is what I chase everyday. Winning this Scholarship is not just for me but also would be for my family and to giver inspiration to the under privilege that want to do more with their lives.
