Accomplishments

  • Designed, built and received a patent for an automated tool for precision testing of thermal interface materials.
  • Designed and fabricated a thin plastic notebook with the same stiffness as more expensive metal chassis as a demonstration of an alternative low cost solution to the Intel Ultrabook initiative.
  • Manufacturing project lead responsible for transitioning several IBM Research laser processes to into a robust automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Designed, built, and introduced compact environmental control chambers and associated control software for use in IBM San Jose reliability labs. Increased the testing volume by 300% using the same floor area.
  • Oversaw the tool and process development of low cost semi-automated disk drive assembly line equipment and directed the installation of 30+ copies of the equipment at worldwide sites in San Jose, Singapore, Mexico, and China.
  • Transformed pre-existing HDD manufacturing line testing measuring equipment to actualize a 10X improvement in cost, 4X improvement in throughput, and 2X improvement in precision and reliability.
  • Developed a computer based control system for an automated highway dot replacement robot (a Caltrans highway automation project).
