As a unit supply specialist assigned to the 861st Quartermaster Company included receiving, inspecting, loading, segregating and delivering unit supplies and equipment; operating unit level computers; preparing unit and organizational supply documents; maintaining automated supply system; issuing and receiving small arms; securing and controlling weapons and ammunition in security areas; scheduling and performing preventive and organizational maintenance on weapons, and posting transactions to organizational and installation property books and supporting transaction files. In addition to my responsible as a unit supply specialist by responsible as a solider are to attend regular trainings and maintain appropriate certifications; attend monthly battle assembly and annual trainings, and maintain physical fitness and appearance standards that are in accordance with army regulation.

As a Deputy Sheriff Correctional Officer it was within my responsibilities to book, interview and process Inmates into the facility; fingerprint and photograph to ensure proper identification; conduct inmate searches; accept and record personal property; release from custody; return property and distribute inmate funds. In addition to those duties I was also tasked with counting, controlling and monitoring inmate movement and activity in housing units, cell blocks, tanks and open dormitory settings; monitor suicidal inmates to determine if they require further attention and provide coordination with the facility medical provider; conduct security and welfare checks and connect inmates with mental health services; search jail areas for contraband and hazards and secure and maintain evidence; control violent inmates and perform cell extractions using minimal, necessary force; write reports and complete daily activity logs; respond to backup calls for medical, inmate assaults, and other emergency situations; testify in court relating to crimes committed in custody; serve and process criminal warrants for offenders in custody; complete inmate transports, and maintain security within the institution and oversee the health and safety of staff, inmates and the public by controlling access points via electronic monitoring and door mechanisms as well as qualify with agency approved firearms, tasers and other force options as directed.
As a Shift Training Officer it was my responsibility to conduct training and education for new hires and senior deputies alike; complete an 8 week in-depth field training for all new deputies assigned to my shift; ensure that monthly scenario and alarm drills are completed accordingly; attend monthly training meetings; coordinate with the facility training sergeant for ongoing trainings, continued education and other concerns.
Full time position averaging 40 hours per week.
My responsibilities as a dispatcher for southside towing and recovery included the greeting of visitors or callers daily to handle questions or direct to appropriate staff; track changes in computer system to keep records current and accurate; keep detailed and updated records of calls in physical and electronic databases; collect payments, issue receipts and updated accounts to reflect new balances; communicate with individuals within inbound call center setting to complete dispatch support for recovery calls and monitor dispatch board and adjust call priorities regularly based on caller needs.

The California Highway Patrol's Explorer Program is designed for young men and women, 15 to 20 years of age, allowing them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve the people of California through discipline and a commitment to serving their community. Explorers assist the CHP both in office and out in the field. The experience they obtain here will be directly applicable to a future in law enforcement, while building relationships - with other Explorers, in the community they serve, and within the CHP.
