Joseph Giacinto

I am currently volunteering for Catholic Charities of Santa Clara. I work at their shower drive every Thursday. My responsibilities involve sorting through clothes donations and distributing them to the unhoused, managing and distributing food donations, and cleaning showers after use.

I formerly volunteered as a peer mentor and educator for individuals who had also recently suffered spinal cord injuries at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado. This involved one-on-one peer mentoring, teaching educational classes about life after a spinal cord injury and being apart of outings targeted towards reintegration into the community.

• Organized racks and shelves to maintain store visual appeal, engage customers and promote specific merchandise.
• Provided positive first impressions to welcome existing, new and potential customers.
• Helped customers locate products and checked store system for merchandise at other sites.
• Answered customer questions regarding sizing, accessories and proper care for merchandise.
• Increased sales by offering advice on purchases and promoting additional products.

• Learned and maintained proficiency in first responder skills such as First Aid and CPR to offer individuals in distress optimal support.
