Independently processes standard military personnel actions necessary to provide military pay and personnel services for actions such as separations, retirements, and gains to include strength gains, losses, retention, reenlistments or similar matters for military personnel. Performs reviews of military human resources (HR) records and conducts necessary research to determine eligibility for personnel actions. Processes actions by updating automated personnel data systems such as NSIPS, MMPA and/or other applicable military HR systems and applications. Computes total creditable service for different types of voluntary and involuntary retirements and separations. Identifies and corrects inaccurate data in personnel systems and verifies required personnel actions are taken. Retrieves data from various information sources for use in answering questions, preparing correspondence and developing
reports/briefings.
Reviews reports, forms, documentation and other related information concerning Navy members and constructs/maintains military HR records. Recognizes errors, gaps and inconsistencies. Obtains specific data needed for the completion, verification and or updating of personnel forms and records. Makes additions, revisions or deletions to service records and files to keep them current, complete and accurate in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures. Researches and provides factual information regarding applicable rules, regulations, procedures and requirements and provides explanations of actions taken or recommended.
Prepares documents for release by the designated authority to process actions for, but not limited to, active duty pay entitlements, liquidation of travel claims, basic pay, basic allowance for housing and subsistence, advance pay, severance pay, special pay, incentive pay, leave allotments, bonuses and deductions. Reviews key supporting documents to ensure they are authentic, accurate and in compliance with applicable guidance. Reviews accounts and service records to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Provides customer service by various means such as in person, by telephone, email and correspondence. Serves as the primary source of information for Sailors and command personnel to include Command Pay and Personnel Administrators (CPPA). Advises customers on eligibility requirements for pay and personnel actions. Explains policies, regulations and other guidance as well as findings from record reviews. Performs detailed regulatory and procedural research and recommends appropriate disposition of special action cases.
