Internship at City of Leesburg Electric Department

City of Leesburg Electric Department
Leesburg, FL
06.2023 - 08.2023

So this was a internship so I didn't get a lot of experience but I got to experience the different positions within the electric department including. Line work, substation work, meter work, and the planning side of the electric department. When I was with the line worker crews they taught me how to tie some of the basic knots and briefly about the different phases of power line, and things of that nature. When I was with the substation crew the taught me how substations work and how the are uses to basically reduce the how down to a lower voltage from the transmission lines to the distribution lines, when I was in the metering side I learned a lot about how to wire up commercial meter cans and how to safely and effectively switch out electric meters, and finally in the planning slide of the electric department I learned to plan out new subdivisions and how much power they are going to require depending on how many house are in the neighborhoods. In summery I learned a lot at the electric department but there is always room to grow.
