I started working for Cook Drilling as a first stage apprentice and focused on assembling caissons for high rise buildings, bridges, and electrical towers. After a couple years I was promoted to Ironworker foreman and my responsibilities increased in the assembling of rebar caissons. I had to learn foundation drawings and elevations for some of the tallest buildings in Center City Philadelphia, I typically had 4-6 Ironworkers that I was in charge of to build the caissons for high rise foundations. Then I was later promoted to general foreman for our high rise jobsites. I was in charge of not only my Ironworker crew but also multiple heavy machine operators, laborers, and surveyors. My responsibilities included pre job meetings with the general contractors, layout the plan of action for the job in coordination with other trades, ordering concrete and insuring all aspects of job were completed and passed third party inspection.
