Volunteer Experience

  • Thomas Jefferson Knowledge Institute – TJKI, is a 501(c)(3) education foundation whose main purpose is to serve as an organizational resource for educators in meeting federal and state mandates regarding founding documents and especially Constitution Day. We provide materials to assist educators to teach founding and historical documents, forgotten Black history and original intent., Executive Board Member, 2012, 2106, As a Board Member, I was involved in fundraising activities, event planning, and creating a Social Media presence for the group. Our fundraising activities were targeted to help us create scholarships for high school students.
  • Educational Advisory Board Member, 2017, 2020, In this capacity, I was involved in helping put together The Legacy Games, an On-Line platform for students which can help them learn about the Constitution and receive awards, such as scholarships and grants for their higher education needs.

Accomplishments

  • Became a profit-center troubleshooter for several retail companies, converting poorly managed stores into highly profitable operations.
  • Responsible for merchandising, inventory control, loss prevention, and training personnel for several companies.
  • One such example was when I took over long suffering Traffics Department at Fretters, and in less than six months, turned the section into one of the store's more profitable sections, showing a comp increase of 30%. Became the model department for the entire region.
  • Wrote a sales training guide, Selling in the Zone, that was designed to assist the new retail salesperson to learn and appreciate the sales process.
  • Consistently top salesperson at CompUSA, selling over $100,000 in total volume every month.
  • Stabilized Corporate Sales Department at CompUSA by developing relations with “abandoned accounts”, as well as creating new business with developed through the retail sector.
  • Assisted in the development of marketing programs for such companies as Health Business Management Solutions (HBMS), Smart Home Technology Group, MicroLINK Computers, Cameo CC, and Solar Supply Center, Inc.
