Advised and assisted a workforce of over 1,300 federal Air Force and Army technicians and supervisors with inquiries regarding benefits, workers compensation, onboarding, retirement, and performance management.
Benefits Specialist
- Organized and briefed new supervisor and supervisor refresher training courses on a quarterly basis
- Communicated daily with technicians and their supervisors addressing their needs and concerns
- Engaged and mentored supervisors and employees on performance management related issues and guides the workforce through the performance management process
- Subject matter expert on various employee benefits including, but not limited to retirements, military service deposit, Federal Employee Health Benefits, life insurance, National Guard Association US long term disability, Federal Employee Retirement System, Absent US, Separations, Return to Duty, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and Leave inquiries
- Extensive knowledge on the use of important systems and programs including GRB, ECOMP, DIUCS, USA Staffing, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, DCPDS, Remedy Pay System, MyBiz, eOPF, and OPM sites
- Effectively communicated with employee insurance agencies to remedy insurance issues and generated proper forms such as the SF 2810 and SF 2809 to assist employees in the sustainment of their health benefits
- Briefs employees on retirement benefits and assists employees in the retirement process from start to finish
- Communicates with US Property and Fiscal Office and pay personnel to ensure pay is complete and accurately entered for employees
- Maintains accurate tracking spreadsheets of all work that is in process or completed to assist in the timely processing of benefits actions
- Travels to various states to assist in the demobilization process of employees who return from overseas deployments by briefing and engaging employees on their USERRA rights and benefits
- Strong ability to multitask and support employees and supervisors on a wide range of issues by utilizing multiple systems concurrently
- Participates in the hiring process by serving on interview boards to assess the qualifications of a new candidate
- Interprets Office of Personnel Management directives and policies while assisting in the creation and integration of agency policy memos to be adopted by the workforce
Injury Compensation Program Administrator (OWCP) Level 1
- Effectively keeps Agency Workers Compensation costs below 5% each year
- Main point of contact for the Agency Office of Worker’s Compensation Program, coordinating efforts with safety, occupational health officials, medical officials, supervisors, other management officials, and labor relation representatives to ensure optimal effectiveness in administering the program
- Assists in the review and timely submission of all Workers Compensation Claims made through the agency
- Organizes and conducts yearly Federal Employee Compensation Act (FECA) meetings serving as chairperson
- Generates quarterly chargeback reports and submits reports to Department of Labor for review using DIUCS reporting system semi-annually
- Ensures timely and proper completion of CA-1, CA-2, CA-3, CA-7, and CA-16 forms and confirms CA-10 poster is visible at the worksite
- Communicates with supervisors and employees on claim status and ensures all data is appropriately entered and supporting documentation is submitted
- Maintains and organizes employee Workers Compensation folders utilizing HPPA standards, monitors Continuation of Pay dates
- Conducts quarterly OWCP rights and responsibility training to supervisors as well as new hire OWCP training
- Challenges claims that do not meet the 5 elements of: Time, Employee Status, Fact of Injury, Performance of Duty, and Causal Relationship
- Subject matter expert on OWCP claims and the use of the Employees’ Compensation Operations and Management Portal (ECOMP) system
Onboarding Specialist
- Moderates orientations for up to 30 new hire technicians every month
- Facilitates monthly orientations to new hires describing their benefits as well as the rules and regulations of the agency
- Communicates directly with new hires and supervisors on the onboarding process
- Assists new hires on the completion of new hire forms, including, but not limited to the I9, W4, RI 20-97, employee affidavit, SF 52, and various agency forms
- Inputs employee data into agency systems such as GRB, DCPDS, and eOPF
- Maintains up to date employee files and keeps files current as changes arise
- Main point of contact for all new hires and supervisors to distribute information accordingly
- Supports the smooth transition of new hires into the workforce
Human Resources Assistant- Raleigh, NC (40 hours per week)
- Assisted the G1-OPM office in maintaining and evaluating records of Officer and Warrant Officer personnel who are eligible for promotion and organizing monthly promotion boards.
- Provided advice and guidance to senior management as a final reviewer of officer promotions
- Utilized multiple systems to review personnel records, including but not limited to: SIDPERS, SIBX, iPERMS, and eMilpo
- Conducted monthly promotion boards and acts as official recorder while offering advice and answering questions of the Senior Army Advisors and officers of the board
