The office of Professional Standards reports directly to the Chief of Police. The office is responsible with administering the investigative and disciplinary process for the Police Department. The primary mission of the Office of Professional Standards is to assure that the members meet the highest standard of integrity and ethical performance.
As a Supervisor in the Internal Affairs Unit I was responsible for overseeing the background/hiring process of Police applicants as well as civilian employees to determine employment suitability of applicants.
