As a heavy truck mechanic I receive my job and then check the board for repairs, weather it s PM service, check engine light etc, make the repairs in a timely manner and cost efficient, also check with customer on other repairs that may have been found during inspection and address any concerns they may have. If its a PM service change oil and filters, check unit over completely to insure unit is safe for operation, change tires if needed, make any repairs needed, Once job is complete test drive unit to insure repairs were made correctly and unit is good to put back in service fill out work order and insure all parts have been billed and work order completed, Assist other mechanics when need as far as repairs or other issues that may require assistance. Work with service writers to ensure work orders are written up in a timely manner after speaking with customers on their concerns, assign work orders to mechanic's and explain in detail what the repairs are, customers concerns and time frame for repairs to be made, monitor mechanics repair times on each job duties and address any issues that may arise, stay in contact with customer on progress of repairs and if any issues have come up, if extra time might be neede as repair is more extensive than originally was quoted, work with the parts department to insure availability of parts to insure job is completed in a timely manner, put quotes together for bigger jobs so customer has an ides of cost of repairs, After repairs are made read over mechanic write up to insure repairs were made and done in timely manner, make sure work order is given to parts to insure all parts have been charged out, work order is then given to service writer for final write up, customer is then called. Meet with customer and take their information and generate a work order with list of repairs with time for each repair, assign mechanic to job and go over repairs on work order, Monitor progress of repairs and keep customer informed of repairs and if any other issues arise, work with parts department to insure parts are available to make repairs, Periodically check on progress of repairs to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
