SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (This is a federal job)

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and service tactical and non-tactical vehicles in the Rhode Island National Guard.
  • Proficient at diagnosis, repair, and replacement of engines, transmission, brakes systems, fuel systems, steering and suspension systems, electrical, starting and charging systems, exhaust systems and cooling systems.
  • Proficient in drive line systems such as transfer case, differentials, axles, and drive shafts.
  • Knowledge of all safety requirements of the shop and vehicles.
  • Conducted routine lubrication services to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Maintained accurate records of all service activities performed on each vehicle.
  • Used hand tools such as wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers to remove or install parts.
  • Replaced filters, hoses, bearings, seals, gaskets and other necessary components.
