With over 28 years at General Motors Co, I've excelled in body shop roles and powertrain, highlighted by being a 6-year team leader with significant contributions to achieving BIQ4 in multiple audits. I believe my brief assignment on the final care line will help contribute to passing BIQ4 by helping eliminate problems upstream, something I was not asked to do, by working hand in hand with the group leader and the shift leaders notifying them of patterns. In my career with General Motors I have been recognized for exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality improvement, I've effectively collaborated with teams to eliminate problems, improve quality and throughput.
24 years Body shop experience, with 6 years as team leader. Was active in GMS & helped the plant achieve BIQ4. Was awarded for problem solving, using the process per GMS. My team was recognized by General Motors & used as an example for the complex.
Also worked 4 years in Powertrain where I solved some throughout issues problem solving with the shift leader Jim.
After a spinal fusion I now have restrictions, I was recently brought back to work finally and put in final at CARE line to help pass an audit for BIQ4. An area I have never been in. I began my work & after only a couple days I got comfortable with things I have never seen before & started to find discrepancies , not just finding them which is all that was asked of me but identifying problems & patterns & worked with two shift leaders Lee & Kayla and a group leader Tyler to correct the problems to put a stop to it instead of just only finding them as I was asked.
I am familiar with the goals of BIQ4 & I am a good problem solver.
With my current restrictions, which my surgeon & doctors say are permanent, my hard labor days are over. When the temporary assignment on final care line is over, after the audit I could possibly be sent home due to "no work available" by the plant doctor. I do much want to work and finish my time with GM.
I believe I have talent and can help in any area of the plant finding & helping to correct GMS & BIQ4 discrepancies.
If you were to contact the following managers, they would tell you my determination & talent.
Tony Brown group leader whom I achieved BIQ4 with at Lordstown. He can tell you what we built & succeeded in from rock bottom to winning.
Jim Riffe area manager in powertrain CSS whom I worked with on a one on one basis eliminating bottlenecks that were mechanical issues that I noticed while working the assembly line. We eliminated several bottlenecks increasing throughput in the immediate area I had access to.
Amy Mullins group leader in CSS whom I have worked with hand in hand to increase throughput & prepare our team for audit which we passed. She also went above & beyond to increase throughput & eliminate bottlenecks & we went from one of the worst teams to one of the best & off the radar as far as downtime.
Lee shift leader on final care line whom I helped identify areas with the highest rate of GSIP errors.
Kayla shift leader final care line whom I also work with one on one on a daily basis showing patterns & helping identify areas in general assembly that need improvement, again instead of just finding the errors I'm helping correct them by sharing the patterns I find daily so she could do her part in making them disappear, which is working.
Tyler the group leader final care line whom I also work with hand in hand on a daily basis identifying errors & problems in GSIP & working to eliminate them. He actively takes the information I give him & corrects it.
All managers on the final care line take the information I hand to them daily and make immediate corrections upstream, which is working.
I'm confident they would all tell you I went above and beyond from Lordstown all the way to final care line at Spring Hill, an area of the plant I never even walked through before. I adapted quickly and within a couple days was finding & working towards correcting problems in preparing for the BIQ4 audit which I think we will pass.
I may be limited by spine restrictions, but I want to be at work, and I have shown I have talent besides the assembly I have done all of my life. I think I would excel in problem solving & helping prepare for and pass audits and I can quickly adapt to any area of the plant with some brief guidance from people who work there in any area.
I hope you can help me find a position that meets my restrictions & I will continue to give my all for the cause & the good of Spring Hill manufacturing.
