For the first 6 months of my employment with American Cast Iron Pipe Company I worked an entry level job inside the foundry grinding pipe and sorting the pipe in inventory yard. After that I won a job bid in the shipping department where I worked as a service worker building loads handling timbers and blocks. After about 8 months I won a forklift operator/truck driver bid where I hauled pipe with a truck and 48 foot flat bed trailer from the final processing bay to the yards the pipe go to depending on the class, size, and wall thickness of the pipe. On the forklift it’s my responsibility to to keep the yards clean of broken timbers, blocks, and metal bands. I also am responsible of unloading timber trucks and loading racks onto rack load trucks.
I’ll be honest I’m not exactly sure what month I started working for Warrior Met Coal. I started on the track crew where we laid train tracks further into the mine as the sections cut deeper into the mine. We also repaired track all throughout the mine wherever we were needed. I worked this job for close to a year for the rest of my time with this company I worked on the belt crew we built belt structure going further into the mine also repairing structure throughout the mine. On weekends we would let tension off of the older belt lines and cut out old splices and put in new splices to ensure the belt didn’t break during production days.
