Stayed at home with my child and took on educational, organizational, maintenance and monetary disbursement role. Besides the normal duties of running a household, my partner and I provided a safe and balanced space so that our children developed positive self-esteem and social skills.
While with the TRIO program, I worked closely with local high-schools and GED programs to motivate students in underserved areas to pursue higher education. Working from offices at Shawnee State University and Southern State Community College, I set up booths at job-fairs and county functions to talk to prospective students. During my time, I helped nearly 150 people obtain their GED, and over 200 students register for courses at various colleges and trade schools.
Instructed first-generation college students developmental composition and introduced them to academic writing.
