• Aircraft maintenanceCrew chiefs in the air force are responsible for the general maintenance of aircraft, including inspecting, servicing, and coordinating repairs. They often travel with their aircraft, inspecting and servicing it before and after flight.
• Crew managementCrew chiefs may supervise technicians, ensure maintenance schedules are met, and train other technicians. They may also be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and appraising performance.
• Technical productionCrew chiefs in technical production may be responsible for ensuring that crew are available during rehearsals and performances. They may also be responsible for keeping backstage and crew storage areas clean and organized, and overseeing the safety of technical activities.
