• Duties include supervising the work activities of a staff of six employees performing varied and complex clerical work. Work is performed under minimal supervision.
• Responsible for the supervision of staff within the Bureau of Laboratories including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.
• Plans and directs the activities of a Fiscal Assistant, a Senior Clerk, and an Accountant I, whose activities include, but are not limited to, answering phones, directing calls, recording, reporting, filing,data entry of patient demographics, and the compiling of data for required reporting. Communicates with and motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity or work performed. Prepares position descriptions and performance standards and appraisals for subordinate employees, as needed. Assures that all subordinate employees are properly trained during the probationary period.
• Assists the supervisors and the Bureau’s assigned personnel liaisons with the hiring process for all of the Bureau’s positions, including non-employee positions (Contract, Volunteer, Interns), to ensure that require recruitment and selection and background screening documentation is scanned and forwarded
to the Personnel Liaisons for uploading to the Recruitment Tickets. Keeps an open line of communication between the supervisors within the Tampa Laboratory and the Bureau’s assigned personnel liaisons
• Schedules appointments and makes travel arrangements for the Laboratory Director, and processes for payment, all employees’ travel expenses.
