As an active participant in the Civic Engagement Cohort, I engaged with local leaders and officials to address housing and student safety concerns in Isla Vista. My role involved exploring public administration principles through policy development, governance, and community planning. I contributed to public safety initiatives by raising awareness of bluff and oceanfront deck safety during large gatherings. I collaborated with property managers to post warnings and developed policy recommendations to enhance student safety and improve administrative practices.
Key Contributions:
I have always been deeply fascinated by geography and weather, which has sparked my interest in elevation, topography, and the diverse cultures and languages found around the world. Since middle school, I have been dedicated to studying Spanish, and I have also learned American Sign Language (ASL) due to my grandparents, who were both deaf. My passion for languages continues to grow as I actively seek new opportunities to learn.
I have a love for the outdoors, and activities like hiking, rafting, and camping are some of my greatest joys. At 17, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouts. From a young age, I was captivated by parcel maps, city planning, and zoning, and I would often build subdivisions while others played with toys.
